Aquarium Money
Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a fun spring break.
I can't believe how quickly this school year is passing! There are only 36 school days left!
I wanted to update everyone on the aquarium trip.
Payment, which is $93.50 per person, will be due by next Tuesday, April 8th.
Any student who participated in the Coke fundraiser or worked the snowcone machine, I will let you know ASAP how much more you owe. The office did not divide up the money from the Coke sales into separate accounts for the 5th, 6th, and 8th grade classes. I am working with Judy to figure out how much money needs to be transferred to our account.
For now, here is the list of students that will owe the full $93.50:
Colby Briggs (x2=$187)
Asia Brown
Henry Chun
Ryan Davis
Porter Henry
Haston Midkiff
Vraj Patel
Dixon Peek
Kadence Ward

Snow cones, tests, and book report
Parents,
I told you in the last post about selling snow cones at the home baseball games to raise more money towards the aquarium field trip. I have looked through the schedule and have a list of the rest of the home games for the season. The machine will need to be set up at least 15 minutes before the first game. We will have an ice chest for the ice which can be taken out of the football concession stand. All other supplies will be kept together. I will let you know where they will be kept soon. Please let me know what day and time slot you can work the machine. We will need two people in each time slot.
Games:
Saturday March 8th- This is a tournament from 9am to about 5pm. We do not have to sell snow cones this entire time, but if anyone is available to sell them for at least 2-3 hours that would be great! I can come at the beginning to help set up the machine and show you how to work it. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to do this Saturday so I can plan accordingly.
Monday March 17th- games at 3:30 and 5:30
Monday March 31st- games at 3:30 and 5:30
Tuesday April 1st- game at 4:30
Thursday April 3rd- games at 3:30 and 5:30
Tuesday April 8th- games at 3:30 and 5:30
Monday April 14th- games at 3:30 and 5:30
You do not have to stay for the entire varsity game if it starts getting dark and/or no one has bought one recently. We still need to raise about $1,500. I am hoping to raise at least half of that. Each snow cone costs $3.00. We are really going to have to work to sell these. Maybe have your child go around promoting them during the games to help out. Thanks for your help!

Announcements
Hi Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the break. I know I did!
I just wanted to share a few announcements with you.
Ipads are going to start going home every day again; however, there is a catch. I told the students before they left today that the purpose of the ipad going home is for them to use their TapMapQuiz app to study for the upcoming Asia test. I told them they need to go through each section of Asia on the app at least once EVERY night...this includes each weekend night. I also told them that their reading and the map app should be done BEFORE they play any other games. It is up to you how much time they are allowed to spend on it once they have completed all the sections of the map quiz app.
Spelling homework: I know it is a short week, but each homework assignment should be completed by Friday. It is up to the student if they want to work ahead or still do one assignment per night as long as they have the three assignments to turn in Friday.
AR: AR has improved for most students since implementing the reading log. Please make sure your child is continuing to read for 30 minutes each night. There are still several students who have less than 50% of their goal though, so they need to make sure they are reading and taking tests as often as possible.
History: Test Thursday!!! The students have a study guide.
Reading: Ch. 13-15 vocab test Friday!!!! Make sure your child is studying for this test EVERY night.
Verse for the week: This test will be Friday like usual.
Accept one another, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
Romans 15:7
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
I have submitted a fundraiser request to sell snow cones at all the home baseball/softball games. Mr. Faulkner is supposed to get final permission on this today. I hope to start selling them next week. You will get work assessment hours for this. I will decide once I have more information how I want to divide up shifts. I will post more information here as I get it.

- Progress reports will go home tomorrow, so be sure to ask your child for it.

For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
1 Timothy 1:7
- Remember the spelling test (list 23) will be Thursday.
- Hatchet Ch. 10-12 vocabulary test is Thursday.

Welcome to the blog!
Hi Parents!
I have thought several times throughout the school year about starting up a blog. Due to many of the students not righting down homework, I have decided now is a good time to start one.
We are down to only 14 weeks of school left! Wow! I can't believe we are so close to summer. This year has flown by! Obviously, the students are realizing this as well and "spring fever" has set in. This is resulting in less motivation and forgetting to write down homework and upcoming tests. While I completely understand having "spring fever", I want to make sure that they continue to make good grades. I have been and continue to be extremely proud of this class. They are so bright! They all work so hard. I want to see that work ethic continue despite the growing anticipation of warmer weather and a break from school. Therefore, I set up this blog to help get all important information out to the parents.
So, here are the homework assignments/tests for this week:
- We will have a spelling test this week. We will take the test on List 23 Thursday, February 13th. All homework assignments should be completed to turn in on Thursday.
- The students have a Science test Wednesday, February 12th. They will complete the study guide in class Monday.
- They will also have a Hatchet vocabulary test on chapters 10-12 Thursday, February 13th. I originally told the students it would be the 12th, but I decided to give them another day to study. They should have the vocabulary to study in their homework folder or binder.
- NEXT MAP TEST: The students will receive a map of Asia Monday. This will be the same type of map they have used for the Africa and Europe tests. This map is the exact same map I give them as the test. They will also receive an alphabetical list of the Asian countries to help them on the test. THIS TEST WILL BE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5th!!! This gives the students 3.5 weeks to study.
Here are some general class announcements:
- We are out of tissues. If everyone could send one box of tissues, we should make it through the rest of the school year. Thanks!
- VALENTINE'S PARTY: We will be having a Valentine's Day party on Thursday, February 13th. Each student needs to bring valentines for each student in the class. I will send home a letter Monday with a list of the students as well as what each student needs to bring for the party. You can send the item to school with your child any time between Tuesday and Thursday.
- Winter Break is Friday, February 14th and Monday, February 17th.
- Good job to Dixon for reaching his AR Goal.
- I have seen a HUGE increase in motivation with AR since I implemented the reading log and took away iPad privileges. There are several other students who are now only 1-2 books away from making their goal.
